Guru Sri Brahspati Gold Plated Yantra

Product Description

24 K. Gold Plated Brass Colorful Yantra. Approximately Size: 3 1/4" x 3 1/4".

Yantras are usually used for counteracting the harmful effects of planets. Besides countering negative effects, Yantras also increase the planets' beneficial aspects in our lives. Yantras and mantras are connected together since each Yantra has a corresponding mantra. The yantras are also representative of different deities. According to Ayurveda, there is also a definite relationship between Vedic talisman and the elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether.

By proper prayers and perfect recitation of specific mantras, the material elements can be invoked to move in the way desired by the worshiper.

Learn Samputita Sri Suktam

Editorial Reviews

In this learning CD, Amma teaches the pronunciation of each word, and also chants the entire Samputita Sri Suktam, so that listeners can easily follow along and learn. The Sri Suktam is a beautiful Vedic hymn that describes Divine Mother Lakshmi's supreme love and compassion for her children. The Samputita Sri Suktam combines the Sri Suktam with the Rig Veda Maha Lakshmi Mantra as well as a powerful hymn to Sri Durga Devi, in order to increase the spiritual benefits of chanting this hymn. Chanting this every day will bring every form of wealth and every kind of protection. In the Samputita Sri Suktam, very powerful mantras from the Chandi Saptasati are incorporated into the Sri Suktam, which magnifies its auspicious energy. In addition, a wonderful Lakshmi mantra is also added, which contains the auspicious seed syllables "Srim" and "Hrim." These seed syllables, or bijaksharas, are extremely powerful and shower the subtle nervous system with divine nectar. Amma recommends the chanting of Sri Suktam or Samputita Sri Suktam every day. According to the Vedas, we can overcome all karmic difficulties if we chant the Sri Suktam in front of a Sri Chakra every day. When the Samputita Sri Suktam is chanted in front of a Sri Chakra, the sacred vibrations of the sounds are attracted to the central point, or bindu, of the Sri Chakra. As the sound vibrations focus and become absorbed in the bindu, a tremendous cosmic energy emanates from the Sri Chakra and blesses the chanter as well as the entire household. It has been said that chanting the Samputita Sri Suktam in front of a Sri Chakra is equal to chanting all four Vedas ten million times.

Yantras of Deities and Their Numerological Foundations: An Iconographic Consideration

This volume has many large prints of yantras but is lacking in any real depth of description of the historical, cultural, and functional background of the role of the yantra in contemplative practice. While the bibliography is better than in many western books dealing with yantra, it is a bit weak (does not even include Giuseppi Tucci's classic "Yantra".
I myself am an iconographer and have a Master's degree in Asian Studies: Indian Philosophy, but my primary interest is in the practical application or usage of yantra in contemplative visualization. Accordingly I have been seeking books (such as Tucci's) that discuss cosmological and metaphysical issues in a deeper way than just to describe the yantra. On the plus side, this book has many nice colorful prints of yantras and they seem to be named correctly, so it would be a good purchase for those buying it as a "coffee table gift" I suppose. If you are looking for a deeper understanding of how yantras are applied as metaphysical tools to deepen your practice, I would not look here.
